The Cliffs Blog, Jersey City, NJ Make working out at the apartment community's 24-hour gym easier for you this summer by trying these workout tips.

Working out can be a struggle for many of us, but it’s important for your short- and long-term mental and physical health! Staying active in Jersey City, NJ is easy at The Cliffs with our on-site 24-hour fitness gym. Beat the heat and make the most of your workout by trying these tips for an effective workout in the summer and the rest of the year.

Dress for the occasion.

Working up a sweat, even in an air-conditioned indoor gym, in the summer can sound like exactly what you don’t want to do. But wearing lightweight, breathable fabrics in clothes that fit you (not too loose or too tight) can aid in the cooling down process. Opt for lighter-colored clothing and sunscreen, as well, to reflect and protect yourself from the sun’s rays, whether you’re near a window or you’re actually outside.

Set a goal.

If you’re starting a new workout routine, or if regular exercise is new to you, a goal driven by a healthy, positive motivation can make it a more fulfilling process for you. Take a minute to consider what you want to improve at and set a reasonable, measurable goal to work toward.

Try different workouts.

Different exercises work for different people (and may even be more appropriate for the summer, depending on what you do and where). Yours should be effective and enjoyable to you, so made changes to make it so. For example, if you hate running, try another cardio workout, like any of these 15 amazing cardio workouts that aren’t on the treadmill. Expanding your mindset can help you view exercise in a different light while improving all aspects of your health and strengthening different parts of your body.

Make it a natural part of your day.

Getting to the gym doesn’t have to totally overhaul your schedule, but making small changes like going to bed early and waking up early can make it drastically easier for you to get to the gym. Choose a transition time for your workout, like before you go to work or once you’re finished. You don't even have to spend too much time at the gym if you can’t, either. Start with something manageable for you, and keep an eye toward improving. Forming good habits will keep you going, no matter the weather!
